Almost Forever is a poignant coming-of-age film and series that follows two teenagers, Jasmine and Philip, over five transformative years. Set against the backdrop of a diverse group of friends in Stockholm, the story begins in the carefree summer of 2020, where social barriers fade away, allowing them to be themselves.
Philip, the youngest sibling in a religious family, is the jokester, while Jasmine, a romantic with anxiety, grapples with her absent father in Spain. The friends enjoy their youth through activities like skateboarding and hanging out, but as they grow into adolescence, challenges arise.
Their transition to high school introduces new dynamics, with Jasmine experimenting with alcohol and navigating a complicated relationship with Sixten, while Philip undergoes a style evolution and makes new friends. As conflicts arise—particularly centered around loyalty and cancel culture—their bonds are tested.
Almost Forever captures the complexities of youth, exploring themes of friendship, love, and identity formation during turbulent adolescent years. It raises questions about healing, belonging, and self-discovery as Jasmine and Philip navigate the highs and lows of growing up. But above all, they talk about everything under the sun. Through a mix of interviews, cinéma vérité scenes, and their own self-filmed videos, we delve into their world.
